HAND EMBROIDERY. A needle, some thread, and an unreasonable amount of talent.

Let’s be honest. Most embroidery you encounter is a machine pretending. Running the same motif at 800 stitches per minute, perfectly identical, perfectly forgettable. You’ve seen it. You know how superficial it feels.

 This is not that.

Every embroidered piece at The Summer House is made by hand, in our studio, by people who could probably stitch a solar system around a neckline. Which, as it happens, one of them did - a full celestial panel, sun at the crown, twin moons midway, florals and stars cascading down linen, stitched by hand because apparently that was the right amount of ambition to start a Wednesday with.

Then there are the appliquéd peonies, and rabbits, and dragons even. The tonal roses that disappear into black linen and only reveal themselves in the right light. The cross stitch that maps out miniature worlds on shirt fronts. The aari work on unassuming khadi. The scalloped borders in yellow thread around daisy clusters so small and considered they will make you squint and check if they are actually hand done.

Over a hundred embroidered pieces. In techniques you probably can’t name. But each that you will remember.
