Look closer and you’ll see sunbaked cotton plucked from the fields, yarns hand spun on spindles by women determined to make a better living, fabric handwoven by craftsmen with magic in their fingers. No electricity or power looms were consumed to make this fabric. Making khadi is slow paced, almost meditative. It weaves a story of a revolution, the victory of cooperative good over corporate evils. While khadi is usually cotton, silk khadi is a beauty to a behold too.
